Ts. Mohamad Azrai bin Ibrahim — Technology Strategist and AI Consultant based in Kuala Lumpur. Two decades of making complex systems actually work.
I started in telecoms — managing and troubleshooting fibre networks at TIME dotCom during Malaysia's broadband push. That grounding in physical infrastructure gave me something most consultants don't have: a real understanding of what sits beneath the software layer.
From there I moved into mission-critical systems at Sapura Secured Technologies — designing TETRA radio networks for PDRM and the Royal Oman Police, planning 150+ microwave sites, and contributing to tenders from RM200k to RM3 billion. Then on to Australia with Singtel Optus before returning to lead network rollouts at UMobile covering 4,000 sites nationwide.
The next chapter was enterprise IT — Infrastructure Architect and then ICT Account Manager at Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), overseeing RM256 million in ICT network upgrades. Since July 2023 I have been Infra/Ecosystem Project Manager at CIMB Bank Berhad, managing end-to-end infrastructure and AI initiatives including an RPA AI POC on AWS.
Alongside this, I run IDEABOX IT Advisor — helping SMEs and enterprises deploy practical AI automation and intelligent agents that give small teams the leverage of much larger ones.
Infra/Ecosystem Project Manager
CIMB Bank BerhadEnd-to-end management of infrastructure projects across one of Southeast Asia's largest banking groups. Led the CMS Decoupling Project, OCM24 Refactoring (ICC system deployment), and the RPA AI POC including virtual machine provisioning and secure AWS cloud connectivity.
ICT Account Manager
Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB)Coordinated 6 major ICT network upgrade programmes covering Fiber OPGW replacement, OT/IT equipment, SCADA, and corporate network solutions — total approved budget of RM256 million. Achieved 96% customer engagement score for the department.
Infrastructure Architect
Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB)Pre-sales Solution Architect and Project Coordinator for telco and IT infrastructure. Developed enterprise architecture governance frameworks aligned to business and IT strategy, and evaluated technology trends for infrastructure impact.
Network Planner & Coordinator
UMobile Sdn BhdCoordinated nationwide Network Leased Line deployment for RAN Share Exit across Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak — bringing up 4,000 new sites. Managed Metro Ethernet installations for 1,000+ sites from survey through to service provider handover.
Design Specialist
Singtel Optus Ltd. (Australia)Designed access method connections for Optus Business customers. Analysed workflow and security requirements, evaluated network performance issues, and installed and tested equipment, connections, and firewalls.
Senior Engineer & Network Planner
Sapura Secured TechnologiesPlanned and coordinated 126 TETRA microwave links live-swapped from PDH to IP in 4 months with zero network downtime. MW network design across 150+ sites. Design input for tenders from RM200k to RM3 billion — including PDRM C4i, Royal Oman Police TETRA, and ESSCOM GIRN networks.
Provisioning Engineer
